The 2024 Nissan Armada combines power, luxury, and technology in a spacious and versatile package. The Armada is one of the few remaining SUVs on the market. It uses a body-on-frame construction and a naturally aspirated V8 engine, giving it a robust towing capability and a smooth ride quality. The Armada also boasts a high-end interior with premium materials, advanced safety features, and a class-leading 12.3-inch touchscreen. The 2024 Armada is available in four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum, with a starting price of $55,450.
What’s New for 2024?
The 2024 Nissan Armada carries over mostly unchanged from the 2023 model, which received a significant refresh that included a new front-end design, a more powerful engine, and a larger infotainment screen. The only notable update for 2024 is adding a new exterior color option: Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, which replaces Forged Copper Metallic. The 2024 Armada also offers the Midnight Edition package on the SL trim, adding blacked-out exterior accents, 20-inch black wheels, and black leather seats.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Armada is powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque when using premium fuel or 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque when using regular fuel. The engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth and responsive shifts. The Armada can be equipped with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with the latter featuring a two-speed transfer case and a limited-slip rear differential for enhanced traction and off-road capability. The Armada has a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds for both RWD and 4WD models, which is among the best in its class. The Armada also has a trailer brake controller and a trailer sway control system that help the driver maintain stability and control when towing a heavy load.
The Armada delivers a quiet and comfortable ride thanks to its independent suspension, hydraulic body mounts, and acoustic glass. The Armada also offers smooth and stable handling with its speed-sensitive power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and 18-inch or 20-inch wheels. The Armada has a ground clearance of 9.2 inches and an approach angle of 20.9 degrees, allowing it to tackle rough terrain easily. The Armada also features a drive mode selector that lets the driver choose from four modes: Standard, Snow, Tow, and Off-Road, each of which adjusts the throttle response, transmission shift points, and stability control settings to suit different driving conditions.
The only downside of the Armada’s powerful engine and rugged platform is its poor fuel economy, which is rated at 14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 16 mpg combined for both RWD and 4WD models. The Armada also has a large turning radius of 41.3 feet, making parking and maneuvering in tight spaces challenging.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Armada offers a luxurious and spacious interior that can accommodate up to eight passengers in three rows of seats or seven passengers if the optional second-row captain’s chairs are selected. The Armada’s interior is adorned with high-quality materials such as leather, wood, and metal and features soft-touch surfaces, ambient lighting, and contrast stitching. The Armada also provides a generous amount of headroom, legroom, and shoulder room for all occupants, as well as heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a heated steering wheel on the upper trims.
The Armada also boasts a class-leading 12.3-inch touchscreen that is the centerpiece of its infotainment system. The touchscreen features sharp graphics, user-friendly menus, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Armada also offers a wireless smartphone charger, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a NissanConnect Services app that allows the driver to remotely start, lock, unlock, and locate the vehicle, as well as access vehicle health reports and emergency services. The Armada also features a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 8-inch monitors and wireless headphones.
The Armada also offers a versatile and practical cargo space that can be expanded by folding down the second- and third-row seats. The Armada has a cargo capacity of 16.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 49.9 cubic feet behind the second, and 95.4 cubic feet behind the first. The Armada also features a power liftgate, a power-folding third row, and an underfloor storage compartment for convenience.
