The Volkswagen T-Cross is one of the most successful compact SUVs in the world, with over 1.2 million units sold since its launch in 2019. Now, the German automaker has given the T-Cross a major update, with a revamped design, enhanced standard equipment, new technology features, and a newly designed high-quality interior. What’s New in the 2024 Volkswagen T-Cross?
The new Volkswagen T-Cross compact SUV is immediately recognizable by its sharpened exterior design, with new integrated LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillight clusters. The IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are a completely new Volkswagen development and are offered for the first time on the T-Cross. They provide better visibility and safety, as well as a distinctive look.
The new T-Cross also offers three new, fresh colors: Grape Yellow (a crisp yellow tone), Kings Red (a deep metallic red), and Reef Blue (a vibrant blue hue). The new colors can be combined with contrasting roof colors and mirror caps, as well as various wheel designs, to create a personalized look.
What’s Inside the Volkswagen T-Cross?
The interior of the new T-Cross has been upgraded with new materials, colors, and trim elements, giving it a more premium and modern feel. The dashboard features a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a wireless charging pad for smartphones. The digital instrument cluster has also been enlarged to 10.25 inches and can be customized with different display modes and colors.
Thanks to its long wheelbase and clever packaging, the new T-Cross offers plenty of space and comfort for up to five passengers. The rear seats can be slid forward or backward by up to 14 cm, allowing for more legroom or cargo space as needed. The luggage compartment can hold up to 455 liters and can be expanded to 1,281 liters by folding down the rear seats. The new T-Cross also features a variable load floor, which can be adjusted in height to create a flat loading surface or a hidden storage compartment.
What’s Under the Hood of the 2024 T-Cross?
The new Volkswagen T-Cross is powered by a range of efficient and powerful engines, all of which comply with the latest Euro 6d emission standards. The base engine is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which produces 95 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and has a combined fuel economy rating of 42 mpg.
The next engine option is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which delivers 115 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque. It can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and has a fuel economy rating of 40 mpg combined.
The top engine option is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, which generates 150 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is only available with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and has a fuel economy rating of 38 mpg combined.
All engines are equipped with a start-stop and regenerative braking systems, which help reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The 2024 Volkswagen T-Cross also features a mild hybrid system, which uses a 48-volt battery and a belt-driven starter-generator to boost power and improve efficiency.
