Zeekr X: A New Era for Electric Hatchbacks

Zeekr X: A New Era for Electric Hatchbacks

Geely, the Chinese automotive giant, recently launched the Zeekr X electric hatchback, and it has left quite an impression on car enthusiasts worldwide. With a starting price of only 27,600 USD, the Zeekr X comes with a 66-kWh battery, up to 428 horsepower, and a range of up to 560 kilometers. Not only that, but the Zeekr X will also enter the European market this year, which is a massive milestone for Geely's high-end Zeekr brand.

For those unfamiliar with Zeekr, it is a high-end brand under Geely that currently sells three vehicles: the Zeekr 001 liftback, Zeekr 009 MPV, and the new Zeekr X hatchback. All of these electric vehicles are built on the SEA architecture, which stands for Sustainable Experience Architecture. In 2022, Zeekr sold over 72,000 vehicles, and this year it aims to double its sales volume with the help of the Zeekr X, which will be the brand's spearhead in some European markets.

The Zeekr X is an electric hatchback that boasts impressive proportions with a small ground clearance, a long wheelbase, slanted A-pillars, and sharp lines that add sportiness to its appearance. It has a length of 4450 mm, a width of 1836 mm, and a height of 1572 mm, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. It shares the same SEA architecture with the Smart #1 and is equipped with VREMT (Viridi E-Mobility Technology) electric motors and batteries, a company fully owned by Geely.

The Zeekr X has two electric motor options, with the first has a 200-kW (272 hp) motor on the rear axle, while the second has two e-motors with a total power of 315 kW (428 hp). The battery is ternary (NMC) for 66 kWh, and the RWD models have a range of 560 km, while the 4WD model can run up to 512 km on a single charge. These are impressive numbers for an electric hatchback that is aimed at the mass market.

The Zeekr X can be equipped with either 4 or 5 seats, which is rare for Chinese cars. Its interior has a massive 14.6-inch floating main screen that can move toward the passenger, a wireless phone charging pad, and a gear shifter behind the steering wheel. The vehicle also has three trim levels, with the entry-level version, Zeekr X ME, is priced at 27,600 USD. The second trim level YOU, comes with 4WD and 428 horses, while the third one, also called YOU, comes with four seats.

The Zeekr X is available in six body colors: Berlin Metallic Gray, Hangzhou Green, California Sunglow Pink, Athens Cloud White, Paris Cream Beige, and Sydney Harbour Blue. Its interior is available in three shades for the four-seat version: Blue-White, Blue-Green, and Black-Gray. The Zeekr X five-seat version also has a beautiful-looking violet color.

The Zeekr X is an excellent vehicle that comes with a fantastic price tag and an impressive powertrain. Its battery may be small, but it is still a significant milestone for Geely's Zeekr brand. With its entry into the European market, the Zeekr X is set to change the game for electric hatchbacks and lead the way in sustainable transportation.
