Mercedes-AMG is known for its high-performance vehicles that combine luxury, power, and technology. The brand has been pushing the boundaries of innovation and engineering for decades, delivering some of the most impressive and exhilarating cars on the road. Now, Mercedes-AMG is taking its expertise to the next level with the introduction of the new GLC SUV, which can now be ordered as a performance hybrid.
The GLC SUV is one of the most popular models in the Mercedes-Benz lineup, offering a versatile and spacious vehicle that can handle any terrain and any challenge. The GLC SUV has been praised for its refined design, agile handling, advanced safety features, and comfortable interior. But what if you want more from your GLC SUV? What if you want to experience the thrill of AMG performance while also enjoying the benefits of hybrid technology? That’s where the new Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV comes in.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV is available in two models: the GLC 43 SUV and the GLC 63 S E Performance SUV. Both models feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electrically assisted exhaust gas turbocharger, which delivers an impressive output and responsiveness. The GLC 43 SUV produces 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the GLC 63 S E Performance SUV boasts a staggering 671 hp and 752 lb-ft of torque. The latter model is also equipped with an Electric Drive Unit (EDU) on the rear axle, which integrates an electric motor, a two-speed transmission, and a limited-slip differential. The EDU provides an additional boost of power and torque and enables all-electric driving under certain conditions.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV is powerful, efficient, and eco-friendly. The hybrid system allows for lower fuel consumption and emissions and enhanced driving dynamics and comfort. The hybrid system can operate in various modes, depending on the driver’s preference and the driving situation. For example, in Electric mode, the vehicle can drive emission-free for up to 37 miles (60 km) using only the electric motor. In Comfort mode, the vehicle optimizes fuel efficiency and smoothness using the engine and the electric motor. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the vehicle unleashes its full potential, using both the engine and the electric motor to provide maximum performance and agility.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLC SUV also features a high-performance battery that stores and delivers energy for the hybrid system. The battery has a capacity of 6.1 kWh and a voltage of 400 V. It is located under the floor of the trunk, ensuring optimal weight distribution and stability. The battery can be charged via a conventional or public power outlet using a standard charging cable or an optional wall box. The battery can also be charged using regenerative braking or coasting while driving.
